Rising UK trio mary in the junkyard have released their final single of 2024, ‘bear walk’. The song takes the band back to their roots as a melodic folk project, with soft vocals and acoustic guitar strumming defining the track. The band’s unique sound is still present however, with a shuffling drum pattern and panning violin countermelodies adding a layer of unpredictability to the track. They describe the track as “the story of someone trying to make their lover stay with them in their feral lifestyle. It is about the push and pull between wildness and conventionality, and was born from us playing some acoustic gigs over the summer.” The band are playing their first US shows this December and will headline London’s Fabric on February 27th, 2025. -Dan Peeke
